Welcome to Australian Livestock BackrubbersThe Australian Livestock Backrubber Insecticide Applicator is used to control or eradicate Buffalo Fly and thus relieve livestock of the ravages of that insect in an economical, efficient and effective manner.
Tests conducted by well over one hundred Studmasters and cattle and horse breeders, over a period exceeding forty years, have proved that the use of oil type Backrubber Applicators goes a long way in the control of Buffalo Fly. Results of 80% control are common. On properties where they are in use the livestock are far more contented and show good disposition. The all cosmetic value is maintained and the resultant weight grain is quite noticeable. Gary Wessel, a former contract cane cutter is now making livestock Backrubber Applicators (after his father Bert Wessel designed the first model in 1976) to protect against Buffalo Fly, as a full-time business which is expanding rapidly. The Backrubber Applicators are being snapped up in large quantities by cattlemen who recognise the advantages of cattle applying their own insecticide. |

TestimonialsI have 2000 head of cattle using 20 mobile frames and Backrubbers, my neighbours are now using Australian Livestock Backrubbers because they have seen for themselves the dramatic decrease of buffalo flies on my cattle compared to theirs. I’m also using way less chemicals and labour hire so the cost saving is very significant.
Rob Borg - Sarina, Queensland Thanks to Australian Livestock Backrubbers, my buffalo fly control program has greatly reduced labour and insecticide costs. I combine the regular checking of our backrubbers with water and salt lick checks. I would recommend these Backscratchers to primary producers. Geoff Crowther, 100% happy. Geoff Crowther - Hobby Farmer, Crystal Creek, North Queensland My cattle have continual, year-round buffalo fly problem. These Backscratchers are the most cost-effective way I have found for controlling buffalo fly. I still have my Backrubbers in service after 3 full years with a small amount of maintenance. I'm sure they will last several more years. Russel Byrne - Tropical Cattle, Brahman Stud, Ingham, North Queensland Being a one man operation on a hobby farm (50 head), the costs associated with mustering and over-spraying my cattle for Buffalo Fly on a fortnightly basis is out of the question. When I started using Gary Wessel’s Backrubbers, the benifits made common sense. I have not over-sprayed for well over three years now. Ray Bachiella - Ingham, North Queensland |
